I'll be leaving tomorrow night to Rajasthan. My last trip in India before i head back to Singapore in 10 days time.

14th of July (Saturday)
A trip to Kerela with the entire Infosys' InStep interns. Almost all expenses were sponsored by the company. Stayed in a 5 stars hotel, explored the fishing village, experienced the "back water" ride, tasted the most delicious food that i had in India. =D

20th of July (Friday)
Took a day off and tour Delhi. Flew from Bangalore to Delhi via the domestic flight. Stayed in a 2 star hotel that is meant for backpacker. Explored the main bazaar market, visited sight-seeing places such as the Taj Mahal (1 of the 10 wonders in the world) and visited the shelter that housed runaway street kid. The "streetkid tour" (http://www.salaambaalaktrust.com/street_walk_delhi.asp) is very meaningful, get to know about the life of these runaway kids, how they survived in the harsh and corrupted environment.. They reminded me of my children church kids, the visitation days, Arun, Calista, Jin Jing... Well.. I still have a few more months before i decided to join the children church ministry again.

Ooty trip

Finally, here is the pictures that i took for the last weekend Ooty trip. Took a 16 hours bus ride to and fro Ooty. Didn't get to sleep much on the bus cos the whole ride was very bumpy, alot of potholes!! Almost jump out of my seat. Temperature in Ooty is unlike Bangalore, it is freaking 16 degree and it is their winter now!! Thank God that i brought 2 jackets with me, else i would be frozen.. Remember those days in HK, was complaining about the cold weather when i first came. haha! ya.. I'm a typical Singaporean, afraid of cold. =p

WooHoo!! I'm going to travel again this weekend. Taking an 8 hour bus ride to Ooty (located in the South India) tonight. Hehe.. More information on Ooty => http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ootacamund Will be checking out the sun rise, trekking the botanic garden and plantation, boating on lake, and shop @ the bazaar. Hehe.. Oh.. And possibly horse riding too!! Exciting! Will post the pictures when i come back on Sunday morning. =p

Hampi, the City of Ruins

Visited Hampi, a village located in the northern Karnataka, last weekend with a group of interns. Hampi is also known as the City of Ruins. My first time visiting historical buildings which dated back to the 15th century. Great experience!

Hampi is a beautiful place with lots of monuments, especially temples. The train ride from Bangalore to Hampi took around 8 hours. Very exciting. It's my first time travelling with people whom i have known only for 5 days and i get to sleep in a "sleeper" train!

Came back on Sunday morning and i went "gai gai" in the evening again with Dai, Yuan and Fu Hsiang to Bangalore's "Orchard Road" on that same day.

Just came back after watching a movie in town. I would say.. India is not as bad as i thought it would be. No pungent smell and no food poisoning. =) Indians here don't stink @ all. In fact they are very nice and hospitable, they treat you like a VIP!

When i first touch down in Bangalore (India), i'm really scared and traumatised by the local crowd @ the airport. No more Andrea, Justin and Joyce travelling with me, no more Katie to fetch me from the airport, no more Wing to accompany me to sleep @ night. I'm all alone in an unfamiliar territory. The only thing that i could do was to pray. Pray for journey mercy, pray for boldness, pray for the favour of man, pray for peace in my heart. I prayed while on my way to the Infosys hostel. I prayed every night before i sleep.

God answered my prayer. God is good all the time, and all the time He is good! Amen! I met a Singaporean who studied in US and is interning in Infosys too. Though with the American slang, he can still speak our Singaporean eccent (with the diff dialects). He quoted, "You can bring a Singaporean out of Singapore, but you can't bring a Singapore out of Singaporean." He is a smart guy and very vocal in his words. Came from top JC, tan skin and quite sporty. Sound like someone we know right, HK gang? But he is different from him. Cos he is more humble and respect girls, and definitely cuter. haha! =)

I made alot of new friends from all over the world, which include people from US, France, Mexico, China, Taiwan, India, Philippines, Spain etc etc. And some of them were post-graduates, highly intelligent people. It is my honour to know them. Imagine, if im interning in Singapore right now, then I would have miss out all these great opportunities and excitement to meet people from diverse backgrounds and experience all these life happening events. Well.. If i would have to choose a country for my internship again, i would still choose India. =)

I received a parcel from Hong Kong this afternoon. It's from Wing, my roomy!! Woo hooo!! Im so so surprise!! It was from Hong Kong and it arrived 1 day before i fly off to India. Good timing, Wing! lol! Thank!!! *hugz*

I realize something... Though i'm busy meeting up with friends and packing my luggage for the India trip, I still miss Hong Kong...... Every conversation with my friends and family is about Hong Kong and the friends that i met there. I miss Andrea, Justin and Joyce. I miss the time that we cook together, get lost together in Central, shopping cheapo stuff in Mongkok. And those time that we club together in "Hei Hei", one of the disco in Lan Kwai Fong and also the funny little thing that we did in Starr Hall. Haha! And also the nagging session conducted by Andrea, Joyce and I, to encourage Justin to drink more water and put on his lip bums. lol!

I also miss JC, Paul, Nian Long, David, Jiafu, Liying and Elaine. The time that we went oversea together in Macau, Taiwan and also those few dinner sessions where we cooked Bak Ku Teh, Sambal Kang Kong, Ayam Fish together. So fun! And the games that we played during Chinese New Year. (ya.. And we are always sabo by xxxx.. lol!) Oh, and i miss Sijie too. Miss those "complaining" session that we had in Shenjing and @ the Westwood supermarket. Haha! Miss her motherly care and love.. hehe..

I miss buddy and roomy. I miss talking to someone @ night till i fall asleep. i miss the daily morning and night greeting from my roomy. I miss my buddy's laughter and smile. I miss naggin people to take vitamin C. I miss hearing these words, "Ho Ar!", "Buddy buddy!", "Xi Dan", "Mo Xiong Gong". lol! I simply miss the life in Hongkong... So happy. So carefree. So fun.

Wei… Though I didn’t get to taste your cooking, though we didn’t go hiking for the last time and had our last dinner together, all due to time constraint, but the memories that you left in my life for these past 5 months is enough for me to live with no regrets. Thanks for spending time with me, showing me around the island and even be my photographer when my friend is in town. You are more than a buddy but a good friend. Thanks for the little things that you have done for me. Appreciate it a lot. Know something, throughout my stay in HK, I met you every weeks except the exam week. Went to Ocean Park with the Singaporeans and Katie yesterday (Sunday). Despite of the glaring hot weather, we still enjoyed the thrilling rides. Well, if you compared Ocean Park and Genting, I would say Genting is better in terms of the thrill level.

Anyway, cos of the whole day outing, I missed the entire Emerge Sunday service. I didn't watch a single church service online this week. Heard that my cluster won for the POS again! Good job guys! And heard my cgm Erika came in 2nd for the Talentime!! Wow!! Erika, u rock! I'm so proud of you! Too bad i wasn't in Singapore, else i would definitely scream and cheer for both my cluster and cgm. hehe..

2 days more b4 my family comes to HK, 5 days more to my final paper and 6 days left in HK. And my stress level increased drastically after an hour or so discussion on the exam paper with Andrea and Justin just now. Realise that i know nuts about the module and i have to do tonnes of reading again. On the verge of failing. Sian... Got to buck up and study hard these few days. Gonna call upon my Boss in Heaven to help me!

Thank Wing for the cheat sheet last night. It saved Andrea and I the hassle and time from compiling a pile of notes into a 1 page 2 sided cheat sheet. It was not her obligation to help me with the sourcing of cheat sheet, but she did. Thank babe. And guess what I saw this afternoon in the exam hall? Alot of students held the same cheat sheet that i was holding. Wow.. The power of networking...

Anyway.. I'm getting bored with the departure count down. Going to scrape off that idea. I'll just change post the things that i'll miss in HK as and when i feel like it. No more counting down..

I'm going to miss my room, 1606. What more can i ask for especially when i have a nice view of the scenery and a friendly and well-mannered roomy. hehe..

我的floor最近来了两个不熟之客，小强A和小强B。它们的到来带给我的floormates很大的惊吓。有的floormates吓得大声喊叫，有的躲在房间不敢出来。其实我和floormates们一样也蛮怕它的，可是看到她们都比我还怕，我不禁勇敢了起来。hehe.. 我的roomy也是很勇敢。她刚刚用slipper打昏了一只小强B，而我用dustpan压扁它，然后我的另一个floormate把它推进toilet bowl,再把它给flush走。这样我的floor又天下太平了。haha!

Was out with Justin and Andrea for dinner just now. Had my delicious pork noodle in "Chao Yuan" and ate dessert again. hehe.. Getting fatter and fatter. While on our way back to hall, both Andrea and I freak out when we realised that next Sunday will be our last day in HK!!!! Ahhhhhhhhhh... So fast!!! Though i was counting down on my blog and MSN, i didn't realise it was next SUNDAY!!! I'm still in my own lala land.. *faint* my holiday ending soon! And i have so many things yet to do.. I don't want to go back... :~(

As all of you have guessed, i had been bz mugging for my this afternoon paper thus i wasn't online yesterday.

Well... How was my first paper? It was a big time flop! Feel like a total failure. Never feel that way in SMU before after an exam. Not even in my worst subjects like FA and MA. This investment paper was a killer paper, it demoralise me utterly. I did put in the effort to study for that module, but i still struggle during the exam on the math and theory part. Faintz~.. so miserable... I'm doubting on my capability now. Should i continue to pursue my 2nd major in Finance, or should i just drop it, and graduate next semester in December? Sianz.. A few days ago, I was talking to Crystaline about taking Master of Science in Finance .. Gish~ i should forget about it and pursue my career in IT ...

Time for "self-consoling" theraphy
1) Everyone taking the same paper will do badly as well, you are not the only one.
2) Come on, you are on an exchange. Whats the big deal of failing? It won't affect your GPA. The most you just have to retake it in SMU again.
3) Life is full of failures and that is where u learn to stand up and be stronger in the future.
4) Take a break, have a Kit-Kat (chocolate).

Decided to take a 30mins break from studying cos I'm totally distracted by the "flying thing" and Willy's blog. Lol! My cell group is getting more and more happening. I'm going to meet alot of new faces in the CG when im back in Sg.. in... err.. 2 weeks time. I'm so excited! And i'm gonna b bz for that short 6 days before i fly off again. Gonna meet Crystaline, Lisa, Hazel, my sec sch friend, CG, settle my bank stuff, meet the SMU OCS guy, collect debts.. etc etc.. ya.. tonnes of things to do.. Going back to my bz life with my crazy friends soon... Back to reality, no more slack life... =(

Hk diff, their desserts are make up of diff fruits. hehe.. i like it. Like the one below the best cos it has 5 汤圆 filled with mango inside, and it has mashed mango "sauce" on the outside with pomelo as the garnish. All my favourite!! Lol!

Gish.. I haven't update the blog for so long. Was simply too busy to blog and go shopping this 2 weeks. =( After entertaining my dearest friend, Fang Yu, from 11th to 15th May, i'm then busy with my 3 term papers, Economic History of China, Asian Financial Institution and Architecture!! I had tonnes of reading to do and thousands of words to write. Thank God that my exam don't fall on the same date as my term paper dateline, else i'll have to ask my boss in heaven to create a miracle, expand my time, and bless me super ingenious brain power to memorize all the facts and figures. hehe..

Ps: To my dearest CG members.. Below is my exam time table. Must pray for me to at least pass all my papers k? I don't want to repeat modules in SMU.. =)

First of all, i wanna thank both Wing (Roomy) and Katie (Buddy) for blogging about me these few days (dun believe? check their blog...). lol! Feel so honour and loved by the Hongkonger. Gish.. Their actions will make me feel even more "emo" when it is time for me to part with them. Will definitely miss them badly when i go back, just like how i miss my family and singaporean friends when i first came to HK.. well.. 世界上没有不散之宴席... (Eh.. Buddy and Roomy, my chinese not bad rite? lol!) Will continue to enjoy my last few weeks of stay in HK. =p

Firstly, I wanna say.. "Happy Birthday to my BEST friend, Lin Fangyu!" It is her xxxth birthday. We have known each other for more than 10 years since secondary school time and gone through thick and thin together. Well.. hope she has a great time today. And stay pretty always!! =) And and.. She is coming to Hongkong tomorrow, 11th of May!! Woo hoo! So excited! lol! I can be "pampered" by her again. (ya.. Crystaline, i know what you are thinking.. I'm acting like a kid again.. wahaha! =p)

A few hours ago, i had a "Superpass" floor dinner in my floor. We had pizza in the pantry first, then proceed to "Superpass" ceremony, and lastly the "Red paper" writing (I dunno what is that called in chinese. My bad..) "Superpass" ceremony is a HKU tradition. Every semester, the HKUers will chop a roasted pig before the exam starts. It symbolizes passing the examination with flying colours.

Dear piggy piggy..

The ceremony starts...

1) First we have to untie the strings that are tied to the pig. At the same time, our floor will rep distribute the red packet to us. Check out the video for the meaning of the red packet.

2) The floor rep has to cut the pig into half. It is auspicious to do so, else our floor will not pass the exam with flying colours.

3) Then my turn to chop the pig... My "virgin" pig-chopping is given to Starr Hall 16/F.. lol! Pss.. Have to split the meat into half, else i won't be able to pass with flying colours!

4) After everyone gets their share of chopping the pig, we then have to cut it into smaller pieces and prepare the sauce.

5) Yup! And we start eating the roasted pig. Ho Mei ahh!! (Very delicious!)

My last high table dinner in HKU was awesome! Had lots of fun and took lots of pictures with my floor mates. Must grab hold of every chance that i can to enjoy my stay in HK before i leave.. Time is running up ... Another 30++ days and i have to say "Bye bye" le.. Gish.. Getting emo when i thought of leaving this place, this room, this hall, n the HK friends around me... =(

The hotel served western and japanese food.
And I ate alot of smoke salmon. "Ho Sei" Ahhh...

First performance of the day is...
Dance performance by the Starr Hall Dance Team.

Next, we have freestyle dancing by the 十六楼 babes!

Yup! We are enjoying!

After that we have prize presentation. Our unit (十六楼 and 十七楼) was awarded the smartest floors award. Lol! Felt so honour to be in the smartest floor, although i didnt play apart in it. Haha!

Our boy (十七楼) was the soccer champion in Starr Hall!

We had another round of amazing mini rock band concert
by our very own Starr Hall band, Stargazer!

Hehe.. And my floor mate, Loey is one of the band members.

The finale song was self-composed by the Stargazer. Though i don't understand a single word that they were singing, but i could tell from the crowd that it was a funny and crowd-engaging song which was based on several events that happened in Starr Hall.
All in all... Only 1 word to describe this High Table Dinner, "棒"!

I'll start bloggin about events that happened on last Monday, 31st April.
Buddy came to my hall early in the morning and pass me a paper bag.

Guess what is inside?

是爱心早餐呀! There is apple, pear, bread, "dan dan" all specially prepared by buddy. So sweet!!! I don't remember having a friend in Sg that will prepare such a fabulous breakfast before. lol! (Eh.. Friends in Sg.. Feel guilty or not?? Lol!)

Bread with milk and peanut butter. My favourite!

My first time trying "Dan Dan".. Hong Kong dessert. "Ho sei yeh"!

At night, we went to HKU to watch Justin performed in the orchestra. We got him a sun flower and he love it very very much!!

After that, we attended another concert. It was a christian concert held in the hall just beside Starr Hall. Andrea's buddy, Eunice, was part of the choir.

Both my buddy and my roomy are sick.. One having flu, the other one having sore throat. Who to blame? The WEATHER and AIR POLLUTION! The weather here is so unpredictable, it was very hot in awhile, and the next moment, thunderstorm. Bleh.. The air pollution here also quite bad, that why you will hardly see people jogging along the road in HK.. Anyway, pray that they will get well soon ya. Take care buddy and roomy!!! Love you girls!!!

Rok on Pok

Went to "Rok on Pok" with Fione, Joyce and Andrea just now. It was a rock concert performed by 6 different halls.. I would say the bands r comparable to those in SMU, except that their sound mixer sucks big time. Screw up a few songs. But overall still not bad. Hmm.. Too bad, unlike SMU, they don't offer beer, else it will definitely rock the house. Haha! I like one of the songs that was sang just now.. especially the chorus part..

Must congratulate my brother too. He got into environmental engineering in NTU. So proud of him. He was from Ngee Ann Polytechnic, and for a polytechnic grad to get into a local university, u need to be at least the top 5% of the cohort. And despite the fact that my bro play computer everyday till wee hours, he can still score well in his exam. Ya.. he is sort of addicted to the computer games, but he is definitely not a geeky, very well-mannered, caring and quite good looking too. lol! Very impress by him..

Insomnia - Sleepless night

Andrea.. Andrea.. Andrea.... You spread your insomnia disease to me le... Now i can't zzz @ all. I'm wide awake! Sian.. Alot of things going through my mind when i was lying on my bed.. BGR, church, India, all the term papers and reports. Gish.. Hate this kind of helpless feeling.. Dunno what i'm worried about.. Sian.. Worst thing.. No one is awake to chit chat with me @ this wee hours (4.15am).. Boo hoo.. Hope i don't wake my roomy up, she is sleeping soundly in bed though.. Opps..

K.. Since i can't get to sleep, i shall blog then. Lets see what i have in my camera.. Home cook food @ Nian Long's hall on last Thursday!

Yup! For the first time in Hong Kong, I get to eat my favourite Sambal Kang Kong, Ah siam Fish and Bak Kut Teh! All thanks to Nian Long for his sambal chilli and other spices. Hehe! And also not forgetting everyone who was present, who helped in one way or another to prepare the food. =p

Unpredictable weather

First of all, wanna say Happy Birthday Andrea!!!!
Was planning a surprised birthday celebration @ 12 mid-night outside Andrea's room. Justin, Joyce and I stationed outside the room with cans of beer positioned in the "twin tower" form, and planned to place a bday cake in the middle of the tower.. But.. Before i could finish placing the last can of beer @ the top, Andrea opened her door... Diao~ I was in a total shock, no where for me to hide.. In the end all 4 of us burst into laughter and sang a birthday song to Andrea. Though our plan fail but our intention touched Andrea's heart. To thank the "mischevious" us for the sweet thought, she gave each of us a hug. =) Love you babe!!!

During lunch time, i met up with roomy, Wing, and we went to donate blood in HKU. This is my 3rd successful time donating blood. Hmm.. Guess who i met during the blood donation? I met my buddy, Katie!! Lol.. Ok.. So me, buddy and roomy donated our blood.

12th April, Thursday
Attended Planet Shakers and Tim Hughes live concert in North Point. They are one of the hottest christians band and singers in the world! One word to describe the concert, "awesome". It was my first time that i felt the presence of God so strong in a meeting ever since i arrived in HongKong.

Blur Justin, Andrea and I signed up for a tour visit to the Hong Kong Museum of Art without knowing what the exibit is about. We only got to know about it when we arrived.

The theme for the exibits is "Chinglish", 不中不英。

Know what.. There is a meaning behind this figurine with the word "menstruation". Only arty person can appreciate this kind of arts.

Was late for lecture this morning. Only attended the last 5 minutes of the class, cos i was compiling and printing my report. I could have added in more information to the report, fine tune it to be better, but i didn't. Ah boss' perfectionist mindset, the spirit of excellence, makes me feel so guilty..

Ehh.. But wait a minute, i'm on an exchange, i just have to pass, don't have to bother so much right? Guess, my past experience in SMU has a tremendous impact in my life..

Mid term test... I forgot to bring my calculator for my Investment mid-term test this morning. I approached the TA for help, but sound more like being mock at instead. Thank God, in the end, the girl who sat beside me had an extra calculator. But still, I’m not familiar with it and ended up wasting lots of time trying to calculate every single “minor” equation. Anyway, thank God I managed to finish all the questions in the nick of time. Hmm.. Was supposed to be in "Sham Shui Po" with Katie to get a new handphone, but a "dramatic" event happened, and i ended up bloggin now. lol! Oh well.. I'll get my new handphone one day.

Life without hand phone is so inconvenient. I don’t have an alarm clock anymore. But thank God for my roomy, Wing, she wakes me up this few days, and also provide “snoozing” service. (I tend to laze on my bed for quite sometime before I start preparing). Hehe.. Like Joyce, she also blessed me with a chocolate biscuit, cos I "studied" very hard this few days. Hehe… Thank Wing!!!

Had a super bad headache just now and took 2 panadol extras. I guess it is due to the Starbucks signature chocolate that i drank yesterday. Too heaty for me. I always feel unwell after drinking Starbucks and Coffee bean. KNS...

My HSBC PIN number is stored in my handphone. Lost my handphone.. Lost my PIN.. Can't withdraw $$!! KNS.. Went to the HSBC bank in HKU just now and they told me the bank don't provide any service to replaced my PIN since mine is a Sg account!! Arggg.. I have to contact the HSBC Singapore on my own.. Apparently, HSBC Hongkong and HSBC Singapore operate as a separate entity.. Hmm.. "The world's local bank"? i doubt so. Anyway.. will make a trip to HSBC headquarter in Central tml, hopefully they have a solution else i'm gonna survive on my miserable $3000HKD cash till Fangyu comes to HK in mid-May!!! KNS... And freak! I still have to buy a new handphone. KNS..

I just found out the examination dates for 2 out of my 3 papers. Freako! My last day of examination falls on the 9th of June, Saturday!! Freak! I'm going to miss Emerge conference! KNS... 1 month for me to study 3 papers. Kaoz.. I can't go back to Singapore earlier.. Boo hoo... I miss eating fish.. I want to eat the steam fish that my granny cook. I want to eat sting ray.

Projects and term papers are piling up. Mid-term test this coming Saturday, but i don't feel super stress about it. lol! Perhaps I had enough training from Ah Boss in the past. All these are nothing as compared to last semester, the 4 to 6 weeks of hell.

handphone lost..

Feel so lost and stun now.. I lost my handphone in HKU library.. Can't imagine someone STEAL my handphone when i left it "semi-unattended" on the table for 5mins to go to the washroom. "semi-unattended" because Justin was with me too. The last sentence i said to him while his back was facing me, "Look after my bag...." Only found out that i lost my handphone when I'm at Hak King Wong, trying to make a call to Andrea.. Feel like cursing and swearing now... But nothing come out of my mouth..

Made a "lost" report to the library.. and also to the HKU Security Guard. Doubt i would be able to retrieve my handphone since that culprit off my handphone. It is a theft case.. Trying to think rationally, consoling myself...

What did i lose?
1)Nokia 6820, bought it last Novemeber/December and signed a 2yr contract with Singtel.. But.. it cost me only $99SGD.
2) All my contacts in the Hp. But.. I make a backup copy of my contacts before i left for HK. So in other words, i only lost all the Hongkong numbers.
3) A SIM card.. But thank God it is HK SIM card not my SG SIM card, and guess the value is only less than HKD$80 = SGD$16.

Loss of Tangible asset = 99 + 16 = SGD$115

Sian... I'm going to be handphoneless for these few days.. I'll shop for new handphone on Saturday after my mid-term test, anyone wanna go with me???

High Table Dinner again..

Had my high table dinner again. Thank God it ended earlier this time round. Took some pictures with AJJ and my pretty, gorgeous floor mate from US. Will post it when i get the photos from them.

Was planning with Wing to go cycling at Taipo during the Easter holiday.. Explore the other part of HK together with AJJ and buddy. And guess what happen during my floor meeting just now, they mentioned that we are going to have a unit outing to Taipo!! It is going to be cycling cum bbq outing during the Easter holiday! Hooray!! I love cycling! Miss those good old days with my ubin/sunset bay kakis.. Ehh.. Sorry AJJ and buddy, we'll go somewhere else next time k? Err.. maybe to Kowloon? Hehe..

Oh ya!! I'm going to Planet Shakers live concert on the 12th of April too!!! Yeah!! So exciting! Joyce said that she is so happy that Planet Shaker is coming till she wanna cry.. hmm.. I'm not exaggerating.. she really said that. Btw... Anymore takers? So far Joyce, Elaine, NianLong and I will be going. Let me noe asap k? Then we'll book more tickets. =p

Taiwan trip!

Very busy recently.. Bz with mid-term test and mapling. hehe.. Anyway.. Andrea and I cooked fried noodle for Joyce and Justin just now. V tasty.. Hmm... I finally understand my granny's feeling, the feeling of waiting for her grand children to come home for dinner. So 温馨 right? lol! Hmm.. make a mess in my pantry again.. bleh.. Oh well.. A champion is not someone who never fails, but someone who never quits. Practise makes perfect. I'll be more skillful in the future. =p

Quick Summary on my Taiwan trip (15th March to 18th March)
May miss out certain events due to short term memory...

Day 1
- Check into Fu Zhuan Hotel in Xi Meng Ding
Guess what was the first show that i saw on the TV? Porn.. Zzzz... Anyway.. The room was quite big.. enough for 2 queen size beds and ample space to walk around.

- A quick lunch at a nearby restaurant
- Went to the Huasi Night Market
Not a recommended place to visit.. Alot of old people, hardly see any youth walking around in this night market. But we tried alot of street food. E.g. The dumpling, egg with vegetable and starch, oyster with eggs and starch, tea, and smelly toufu..

Day 2
- Breakfast at a restaurant
Must try their breakfast. Delicious and cheap!
- Took MRT and a bus to Jiu Fen
Tourist place.. Other than its beautiful scenery.. the place sell lots of food especially those chinese 饼.
- Went to Sogo in xxx (dunno what that place)
Hmm.. my first time seeing a 电梯woman in the lift exactly like the one shown in the Japanese drama.

- Shilin Night Market
Met up with my Taiwanese friend, Joanne. Very sweet girl. She brought us around the market and treat us to Taiwan street food. [ Treat = Everything paid by her.. ] Thank Joanne! Bought a few clothings in the market too. Super cheap! lol!
- Watched a movie, 300, in Xi Meng Ding
Hmm.. violent show with some nudity.. The movie is not censored because i'm in Taiwan.

Day 3 (shopping day)
- Lunch at a restaurant
- Sun Zhong San Memorial Hall
- Taipei 101
This place sells all the expensive branded stuff. Anyway.. Had our dinner in the food court. Guess what i had for dinner then? I ate Singapore Bak Kut Teh!! But doesn't taste like Singapore style, too sweet already. lol!

Another night market like shilin.. Lots of food stalls and cheap clothings. Hmm.. my definition for cheap = less than $20 SGD

Well..

Saturday - Study in the Main Campus library for more than 6 hours.
Sunday - Church in the morning, then finish up my 2,500 words essay in my room
Monday - Unit Dinner (Hot pot), then watch DVD.

1) unit dinner => 16th floor (my floor, all female) + 17th floor (male floor) having dinner at a resturant.
2) Hot pot => Steamboat

Now... I'm in the midst of doing my Investment project. Zzzz... The project is almost similar to a CAT project, but with complicated finance elements in it... Though the professor spoon feed us with a sample project, it is still not as easy as copying the codes and plug in the numbers.. zzz.. Brain rusty.. Hazel... Wru? Miss u alot siah.. Need your brain..

3) CAT => Computer as an Analysis Tool, one of the core modules in SMU. All about Microsoft Excel..

late dinner

Went for a late dinner with Justin just now.. Guess what i ate? Japanese food! I love salmon sashimi.. But the salmon that the restaurant serve is super thick! Twice the size of a normal salmon serve in Sakae.. Eat till i feel so disgusted.. Gave the rest of the salmon to Justin eventually.. eee... yucky.. Guess i won't eat salmon for a month.

Head down to the supermarket to do some grocery. Ok.. buddy.. You are right.. I found the 3-in-1 milo in "Park n Shop". Bought some can foods, cereals, milk and chocolate. Craving for chocolate these few days.. Not because i'm stress, but because I simply love chocolate! Can't live without chocolate.

Had my High Table Dinner on Wednesday. Super wierd... The restaurant is only a few steps away from my hall and we had to dress up in our formal.

Before the dinner, i went to Ah rain's place to get Sijie's shawl.. This is Ah rain's room.. Super messy... Look at the pile of clothings.. Wonder if he washes them.. (Sijie's shawl is inside..)

CNY holiday over.. School started.. Another 2 more weeks and i'll be having another week break. Alot of school holidays this semester. Anyway.. Got to work doubly hard from now onwards. Less mapling and blogging, more studying... Doubt i have the time to study during those break, cos my friends and relatives are coming to HK, and i'm going Taiwan in March!! hehe..

February - Grace is coming to visit her friends, maybe i'll get to meet her.
March - My little cousin, Desiree is coming.
May/June - Ah girl (Fangyu) is coming to fetch me back to Singapore. lol!

Updates on 23rd Feb, Friday

Super duper tiring day… Went to Macau with the SMU, NUS and Katie. Took an hour ferry ride from Sheung Wan Ferry Terminal in HK to Macau Ferry Terminal. Thank God, I didn’t suffer any motion sickness or hangover from this trip. Perfectly healthy, brought thicker clothing to keep myself warmth too.

Visited a few tourist attractions place, and bought some Macau “tu chang”.

Had a revelation after this Macau trip… how does the term “ugly Singaporean” came about? Oh well.. I don’t think Singaporeans are impolite when they are oversea, but rather sometimes under certain circumstances, you have no choice but to perform unglamorous actions. I personally experienced it.

Experience #1
People pushing you because you are blocking their way. They don’t say “excuse me” or “借过”.. zzzz…
Remedy: Nothing you can do. =(

Experience #2
Someone snatched the taxi even though you are the one who flagged it down.
Remedy: run fast enough to get into the taxi first. =p
(Ps: This is not a “kiasu” act, but rather a way to ensure that you won’t have to wait for another 20mins to eventually get a cab.)

Visited the casino too. Spend SGD$4 to play the jackpot. Well… The casino there is definitely much better than the one in Genting. At least the place is not smoky. =) Last comment about Macau, unless you are a gambler, else visit the place once will be enough.

Updates on 22nd Feb, Thursday

Yeah! Joycelyn was back in HK on Thursday morning. Ho hoo!
We had our Singaporean “Lou Hei” at my hall in the evening. It was actually not as tedious as I thought to prepare the lou hei. Bought some fruits, carrots, raddish, cucumber, salmon, cups, champaign, disposable chopstick and steal cardboards from the supermarket. Peel and shreds the vegetables, and ta ta.. the lou hei is done!

The atmosphere builds up at around 8pm when everyone (NUS, SMU and the locals) gathered around the table to lou the yu sheng. At last, I experience something so “Singaporean”. Lol!

Reunion lunch with my dear CGL from Singapore on Tuesday. Had a hard time finding the mini bus to the Victoria peak. Don't know how to read the chinese words, and in the end took the wrong bus to the bus terminal, waste HK$1 (equivalent to SG$0.20). lol! Oh well.. learnt from my lesson, at least i know where is the mini bus terminal in Central now. =)

HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR!!

It has been a few days since i last blogged. Was very busy beginning from the CNY eve till yesterday. Busy eating, taking photos, meeting friends, squeezing through the crowds, etc etc....

Reunion dinner with a group of NUS and NTU friends from HKU.

After that we had a few rounds of mahjong.. Just playing.. no money involve.

1st day of CNY

Called my parents and grandparents @ 11am. Wishing them a prosperous and a happy new year. 1st time hearing their voice after i left Singapore for so long. Miss them so much. *sob*.. 1st time spending CNY alone oversea.. well.. not that bad after all, the NUS and NTU pple are still around to accompany me. And also not forgetting our dear Justin, Katie and Feon. =)

We continued with the steamboat that we didn't finish the day before. I started eating from 2pm to 530pm.. Super full... zzzz.... Went down to Tsim Sha Tsui to look at the parade. It's something like the Chingay in Singapore, except there are super super lots of people.. and also unfriendly policeman.. hur hur..

2nd day of CNY

Went for a day tour with Justin and Feon. We travelled to 2 islands, Cheung Chau Island and Lamma Island by ferry, and then end off the night by watching the CNY fireworks. Romantic yeah?

Below is the itinery for the tour. Specially posted this schedule for buddy, cos she wanna know the programme. =p Btw.. the timing might be slightly different.. lol!

12++pm to 1:30pm - Left the Kowloon Pier (Dunno the exactly pier name..
1:30pm to 2:30pm - Reached Cheung Chau Island. Free and Easy.
2:30pm to 4:00pm - Left for Lamma Island.
4:00pm to 6:30pm - Had our seafood dinner.
6:30pm to 8:30pm - Watch fire works in the ferry.

It was drizzling and freaking cold when we were watching the firework in the ferry. Lazy me, didn't bring extra jacket and umbrella.. If buddy is around, she would definitely open her umbrella and shelter us from the rain.

Anyway.. I never took such a long ferry ride.. Spent more than 5 hours rocking in the sea.. zzz.. Know what.. As im bloggin this post.. I'm feeling so dizzy again.. head spinning.. the exact feeling after the HK carnival.. motion sickness.. zzz.. Poor me.. Pray that i'll get well tml..

The unexpected…

Haha! guess what happened just now? After i finished blogging my last post... Justin knocked on my door!! He gave me a Godiva chocolate!! After a few minutes later, Joyce knocked on my door too! And she gave me a Morinaga chocolate!! Super super paisey (embarrass)! I didn’t get them anything beforehand… so guilty… Andrea and I happily went for dinner after class.. and totally forgot about them. Arrggg…. Sorry pals!! Sorry...

Inspired by AJJ (Andrea, Justin and Joyce), Katie (buddy), Wing (roomy), Katrina (Justin’s buddy), I decided to… cut my hair. Haha! Yesh.. I cut my hair. My personal grooming consultant and translator, Miss Andrea, was there to accompany me for my hair cut after our dinner. Thank God that Miss Andrea was there else I won’t be able to communicate with the hair stylist who somehow don’t speak Chinese nor English, only Cantonese…

Always feel so guilty everytime i see my roomy studying while i'm bz msning and blogging. So guess what.. I started my first reading assignment last night. lol! Not bad for a good start right? I'm motivated to study more, msn less and start my mapling.. Did i say mapling? yesh! At last.. after some help from Justin, i managed to connect to MapleSEA. Wohoo! So happy! Now i can really play with jeanine, es88 and jedisoul. I have been waiting for this moment! =p Ok.. i know some of u going to nag at me again.. Rest assure i'll still study, won't fall asleep in class, and will continue to exercise. hehe.. =)

Ta Ta! We met my buddy, Katie!!! Super coincidental... We didn’t arrange to meet at all. So happen that she is coming down the peak and I’m going up. She claimed that she was thinking of me while hiking up the peak, and the next moment.. I appeared. Haha!

Was dying while hiking half way through.. the slope is steeper than SMU old bukit timah campus, and worst than Bukit Timah hill. Bleh.. Need more exercise..

But I preserve on… At last I reached the peak, and enjoyed a few rounds of xbox soccer match with Paul in the shopping centre. Haha!

This is my first time perspiring so much during my stay in HK. Haha! Anyway... I made a pact with Joyce (aka Jocelyn, she insisted to be spelt that way… hur hur.. haha!), if we miss the Saturday 7am softball training, then we’ll hike up the peak as a form of exercise. Hehe.. No way are we going to put on weight. Lol!

Promised my buddy, Katie that I’m going to feature her in my blog today. Haha! =p

She was the one who stopped me from slacking the whole Friday afternoon. Lol! Wasn’t prepare to go out till at night with AJJ (Andrea, Justin, Joyce) to Causeway Bay. She called me at 2pm and ask me out to the Stanley Bay.. Well... Although I do have some homework to complete.. but but but… I can always do it another day. How can I possibly turn down my buddy’s goodwill right? Fun comes 1st, study comes 2nd. Haha! And we head down to the Stanley… Yeah!

Katie is super comical recently. Never fails to entertain me. Haha! Look at the photos… A lot of funny expressions. Didn’t know she is a 超爱演 type. Haha! So like me right, Hazel? Haha! Think the HKU Office of International Student Exchange did a very good job for assigning this buddy to me. Lol! Oh.. Must thank God for that too!

Buddy very nice too. Told her that I miss eating fish and she offered to cook steam fish, steam egg for me one day. Haha! I didn’t eat any fish ever since my last trip to Shenzhen. See.. where to find such a nice buddy who will cook for a lazy bum? =p Thanks buddy!

After the Stanley trip, I head down to the causeway bay with AJJ. We didn’t buy anything but almost poison by the fish oil! Know why? Cos the fish oil look like tea! *Faintz* We thought that the restaurant provides free float tea… and we refilled our drinks with the fish oil until one of us tasted it!! Haha! Another thing to complain… The 油条 and soya bean drink taste yucky! There is extremely lot of oil oozing out from the油条, basically... it is like drinking oil instead of eating 油条. And the soya bean has a “Chao Da” (burnt) smell… Bad food day…

I mentioned in my previous post that the Art faculty rejected my application for the Architecture module. Yesterday, I woke up early in the morning to choose my GE (General Elective) modules. Was checking my email at the same time, and surprisingly I received an email sent by the Architecture professor.

“Dear Euguin Tan Qiuxia and Audrea Cristina Ng,

I had you listed as rejected from FINE2031 yesterday. However, several students
have dropped the course according to the enrollment list I received yesterday
afternoon. So in light of your enthusiasm and special situations, I would like
to admit you to the course now that there is some more space.

I though I could snug under my quilt till 10am after a long chat with my roomy last night… but I was wrong! The fire alarm went off as early as 8am this morning.. zzz.. And I have to nonchalantly walk down the stairs from the 16th floor to the open space outside the hostel. Zzzz… But thank God I don’t have to climb up the stairs, i took the lift. Haha!

Updates on my Shen Zhen trip

This is my super tall cousin… 190cm

And his wife, my cousin-in-law (大嫂).

Felt very pampered by them. Everything that I bought were paid either by my cousin or大嫂. My meal was fully sponsored too. We went to a high class Japanese restaurant for dinner on Saturday night, and tried out the Sheesha also known as 水烟 in a pub, “yum cha” with his in-laws the next morning, and had seafood at night.

Btw, guess what my 大嫂 parent gave me as their first meeting gift (见面礼）? They gave me $200RMB.. Felt so weird. I never receive monetary gift from China Chinese before. But thank God for that anyway!

After this solo trip (without AJJ) from HK to Shen Zhen, I realized that my knowledge on Chinese characters is super limited. I can’t read a lot of Chinese words. Hai~ Need to buck up on that. Oh, and I realized I’m definitely more daring and independent now. =)

Was chatting with my friends (Crystaline, Hazel, Meiyun) from SMU via MSN last night. Everyone is so caught up and stress over projects, assignment and tests. They envy me that I’m enjoying life in HK now. But gals, I’m not much better over here after CNY in HKU. You know I’m not a slacker right? Though I just have to pass all my 5 modules, I’ll still work hard and at least get an average grade instead of the borderline one. Hehe.. (I’m so thick skin) Btw… Know what.. When you guys are enjoying your holiday in May, I’ll be busy preparing my exams already.. Bleh… My turn to suffer.. Well, someone also commented that life without me around seems to be a bit bland… no surprises, no laughter, no fun.. Haha! (You know who you are) Hmmm… Tell you what... just 忍 for another 4 more months and I’ll be back to spice up your life again. Lol! I PROMISE! “Soon Bah”!

In the meantime, I’ll delicate a song (only the lyrics) that I used to sing in church to all my friends and relatives. Keep smiling and shining always, those stressful moments will be over soon. *Hugz*

Dinner Appointment

Shopping for classes from 930am to 6pm is a super tedious job. It requires a lot of physical strength and mental power to stay awake in class and climb the stairs. I even have to grab my sandwich and hot chocolate while on the run with Andrea. Anyway… my efforts pay off... Thank God, that I found 3 modules that I’m interested in.

Had a “reunion” dinner appointment with Irene just now in Causeway Bay at 7pm.. Guess what.. I’m not that smart after all.. Alighted at the wrong bus stop, ended up in Wan Chai, and then took a MTR to Causeway.. lol! Think I need more training from Katie! haha! Anyway, have to thank Irene, cos she paid for the dinner. Thank babe!

I’m getting more and more emo lately, wanna give her a hug before I board the bus 23, but my reaction too slow.. Lol! Well, I’ll still meet her again... Next time 吧！

Heard from Hazzie that there is a new map called the Shanghai, so envy.. they can explore that place. Hai~ If i have connection, bet i'll be playing with es88 till super late again. haha!

Back to Hollywood movie module, quite an interesting module. Get to watch movies and write journals. A very slack course. I like it. haha! The 3 rd lesson, Economic Development of China, very heavy module, with all the economic terminology and graph... Can't understand what the prof is talking about too. Thus, I have decided.. I'm going to drop that course.

Another long day tomorrow.. Have to continue my "class shopping" with Andrea. zzzz...

Corporate Finance

My 1st lesson of the day, Corporate Finance, is actually a replicate of Finance which I had taken in SMU. Almost the same ppt, and exactly the same textbook!! I tried choosing more advance Finance module such as the Portfolio Analysis, but HKU won’t allow me to do so, they rejected my application. Hai~… I’ll just take it as a recap lesson to solidify my Finance foundation then. The professor is a bit long winded as compared to the one in SMU. But she gave a better illustration and example of each term. Lol! Guess what.. As I’m blogging right now, a lot of students are sleeping and talking. Quite disturbing, very different from SMU. The lecture notes given here is quite brief, still prefer Jeremy Goh’s note. Another 1.5 hours to go.. Next lesson will be Movieland: America on Hollywood’s big screen.

Just finished planning my timetable with AJJ (Andrea, Justin and Joyce),.. People, pray for me k? Pray that I will get all the modules that I want and my Friday will be free from lectures and tutorials, and then I’ll have a long weekend! Haha!

Went to Sha Tin Horse Racing Course this afternoon with AJJ, Fione, Nian Long from NUS-HKU, and other NUS-CUHK people. Nothing spectacular about the race course.. Just horse racing, and a lot of old uncles and aunties punttering. Zzzz..

I bought a new face moisturizer, sun block and a face mask just now to improve my complexion. My face was quite pale this afternoon, dunno why. Perhaps, it was due to the “hangover” from yesterday excitement. Oh.. And I got bruises on my legs too. But my face is super red now, maybe I laugh too hard in the pantry just now with AJJ. Wing witness that. I heeded everyone advice, drank lots of water and applied lots of face moisturizer already. But my face is still very red.. Worst come to worst, I’ll consult Abbie or Katie if my complexion don’t get better. They are from the medicine and nursing faculty anyway.

1st Saturday in HK

5th day in HK and it is all about fun and fun and more fun. Went out with my buddy to the HK Carnival in Admiralty. It was my first time traveling alone without my SMU friends. Lol! I must admit, I’m getting better with the bus route. Manage to alight at the right bus stop and found Katie in less than a minute (or rather.. she found me.. ).

The carnival is almost similar to the UK funfair in Singapore, except that there are more up-side-down rides and roller coasters. Played a lot of those, and currently im having a “hang over”… Not from any alcoholic drinks but from all those rides.. Pretty bad.. My head is still spinning as im blogging. Lol! Took lots of pictures with Katie too.. Super funny girl, very innocent and naïve too.. Innocent than Crystaline, sweeter than Fangyu. Lol! Anyway, we played some stall games, and won a Donald duck and a tiger.. Well since im older.. “大让小” I gave the better looking Donald duck to the little girl. Haha! I’m nice right? Crystaline and Fangyu will definitely agree with me.. lol!

After the whole carnival thing, I went to The Vine with Abbie, Daryl’s girlfriend. The Vine, is actually a church-café look alike. They named the auditorium as the tabernacle, and the praise and worship ambience is much like City Harvest without the extravagant lightings and sound effects and large LCD in the front. Not a bad place, the people there are super friendly just like those in my church.

One thing that I observed about the people (mostly international) that I talk to there, they LOVE Singaporeans! (I don’t know why…) And they know how to speak in Singaporean accent!!! All because of the I NOT STUPID movie. Lol!

This morning orientation was rather boring.. skip.. not goin to talk about that..

Went shopping again in the afternoon.. We (Andre, Joyce, Justin and me) went back to MongKok again cos justin wanna get the jacket that he had been eyeing since yesterday. Lol! Joyce and I got another winter wear too. Cost around $20++ Sing.. Quite worth it. Conclusion, clothing in HK is much cheaper than Sg and it more fashionable.

Once again.. I'm super grateful to my dearest buddy, Katie. It was very kind of her to bring us (Me, Justin and Joyce) out this morning for egg tarts, yum cha and then to MongKok. She was the best buddy i ever met, so helpful and thoughtful. Even call me after her yoga lesson to check if I’m lost in HK again. Lol! Bet she must be giggling when she read this. lol!

It wasn't a good day for Justin, he was having a bad stomach upset.. He had to leave early and return to the hostel to rest. (Justin, may you get well soon!!) Joyce and i continued our shopping adventure!

After Mongkok and all the byebye, we took the MTR to Causeway Bay. Went on our crazy shopping spree again, and we bought a pair of "made from Korea" jean, quite nice, very hip, but it cost us $70!! It's NOT cheap at all. Went to another cafe and had our early dinner... Another mishap occurred.. Joyce lost her handphone. Guess it was pick pocketed while we were busy shopping either in MongKok or in Causeway Bay.. People.. Please beware of pickpocket!

Reached the hostel rather early... around 9pm++. Had a long chat with my roomy, Wing till around 12plus. She is now in bed, sleeping soundly and i continue with my blogging. Lol! Realised something common about my roomy and buddy..

2nd Day in HK

Before i go on blabbering about the things happened on the 2nd days, there are several people whom i wanna thank God for...

Thank God for blessing me a great, helpful and pretty buddy, Katie. When i say pretty, she is confirmed 100% pretty. She looks like “白衣天使“。Definitely a blessing from God. Without her, i wouldn't have completed my university exchange registration, and gotten my internet and mobile phone connection all done within the 1st day. She is my street directory too. Was actually lost in Central (Central is in HongKong Island) just now, and thank God i managed to contact my buddy and found my way back to the hostel before 12am. She is very hospitable too. Always ask me which places I want to visit, and offered to bring us (Me, Andrea, Justin and Joyce) around despite of her busy schedule.

Next, about my room mate Wingyi, Rm 1606. Very sweet girl too. She left me a welcome note on the first day and shared with me several things about the hostel cultures and also introduced me to other neighbour staying in the same floor. Another giving/sharing person, offered her tissue box, hair dryer etc..

My 1st neighbour that i met on the first day, Cindy, Rm 1605!! Guess what, she is super helpful and thoughtful too. I bought a quilt from a society club, and when the quilt was delivered to my room, Cindy commented that the quilt is too thin to survive for the night! She offered to lend me her room mate's quilt instead. So sweet right? Lol! Everyone that i met seems to be friendly and approachable, nothing nasty happened to me yet.. Thank God for the favour of man!

Back track abit, after my first day in HK (yesterday), i realised that Singaporeans are super pampered! Do you know for me to reach my faculty from my hostel, Starr Hall, i have to climb NUMEROUS fleets of stairs and also STEEP slope? It is killing me! My legs hurts alot after a day of "Work Out". Lol! And i found out something terrible yesterday.. I can't play Maple Story! So devastated... No television programme, no Maple Story.. I missed my MS buddy and guild, es88, jedisoul, 4maelstrom, dorados etc.... No more mapling for me..... Hai~... How i wish school will start soon, then it will keep me busy...

Here we go... my 2nd day in HK was an adventurous one. Justin, Joyce and I went on our virgin exploration in Tsing Sha Tsuk (dunno how to spell.. lol!) without our buddies and Andrea. We went to places such as Nathan Road, Lan Kuai Fang, Xin Guang Da Dao, Central, Admiralty etc... Tasted the first egg tarts in HK. Yum! yum! Definitely taste nicer than those in Sg. Oh, and their Nai Cha (milk tea) is more concentrated too, and of course nicer. Basically, the whole day im eating, walking, taking photos and asking pedestrains for road directions. lol! At around 10plus.. We realised that we were lost.. Lol! Asked a few pedestrians for help, and called up our buddies.. But all of them seems to give a different directions.. In the end.. We heeded Katie and Katrina advice and managed to find the bus that brought us back to our starr hall.

Tired..
